Personal care
Bathing, dressing, grooming, and getting safely to the bathroom — with dignity intact.
Non-medical home care · New Jersey
careberi provides non-medical home care across New Jersey for seniors and adults with disabilities. Trained, background-checked caregivers help with bathing, meals, medication reminders, and companionship — a few hours a week, or around the clock. You get a written care plan, one phone number, and someone who answers it.
How care starts
We come to you to understand what help is needed.
Hours, tasks, and who is coming — on paper, and yours to change.
A few hours a week or 24-hour care. No long-term contract.
Start here
Families call us at three different moments. Pick the one that sounds like yours and we'll tell you what to do first — even if you never hire us.
What we'd do first
Walk the house with you and name the risks out loud: the stairs, the stove, the pill organizer nobody's refilling. Then start small — four hours, two mornings a week. Parents accept help more easily before a crisis forces it.
What we'd do first
Get a caregiver in the house the day he's discharged. The first two weeks home are when falls and readmissions happen. We cover meals, bathing, medication reminders, and rides to follow-ups, then step down as he steadies.
What we'd do first
Give you a night off this week. Respite care can be one afternoon, a weekend, or a standing night so you can sleep. You don't have to hand over everything — hand off the shifts that are wearing you down and keep the rest.
Our home care services
Personal care, companionship, and support for seniors and adults with disabilities — built around what your loved one actually needs. Mix and match; the plan changes as they do.
Bathing, dressing, grooming, and getting safely to the bathroom — with dignity intact.
Cooking food they'll actually eat, laundry, dishes, and keeping the floors clear.
The right pills at the right hour, with a note to you if something's off.
Doctor's appointments, the pharmacy, church, the grocery store, a haircut.
Someone to talk to, play cards with, and notice when the day went sideways.
Caregivers trained for dementia — routines, redirection, and patience on hard afternoons.
Continuous, awake care around the clock when someone can't be left alone.
Cover for you — an afternoon, a weekend, or the week you're finally taking a vacation.
How it works
15 minutes
Call or send the form. A care manager — not a call center — asks about your loved one and answers what you ask.
About an hour
We meet your loved one where they live, look at the real risks, and listen to what they want. You're welcome to join by phone.
Within 24 hours
A written schedule, the tasks each shift covers, the hourly rate, and the weekly total. No surprises later.
Before day one
You approve who walks through the door. If the fit isn't right, say so and we'll send someone else.
careberi care · Pro bono program
Cost should not decide whether someone gets to stay home. Through careberi care, we set aside a number of fully pro bono caregiving hours each month for seniors and adults with disabilities who can't afford care and don't qualify for other help.
Tell us a little about the person and their situation. A care manager reviews every request personally and follows up within a few days — confidentially, and with no obligation.

Straight answers
Hourly care runs $36–$50 an hour depending on the level of help and the time of day. You'll have the exact weekly number in writing before you commit to anything.
Usually within 48 hours, and same-day for hospital discharges when we have coverage in your area. Call — even late — and we'll tell you honestly what we can staff.
Yes. Through careberi care, our pro bono program, we set aside free caregiving hours each month for New Jersey seniors and adults with disabilities in financial hardship who don't qualify for other help. Anyone can apply or nominate someone — a family member, a social worker, or the person themselves.
Most parents say that. It usually goes better when the first visit is framed around something specific and non-personal — meals, driving, housekeeping — rather than "you need a caregiver." We do this every week and we're happy to help you plan the conversation before anyone shows up.
Employees, not contractors — which means they're covered by our liability and workers' comp insurance, not your family's homeowners policy. Every caregiver clears a national background check, a driving record check, and reference calls, and completes ongoing training including dementia care.
Medicare doesn't pay for non-medical home care. Most families pay privately. We do bill most long-term care insurance policies directly and can help you file the claim — bring the policy to the home visit and we'll read it with you.
Give us 24 hours' notice to change or cancel a shift. There's no long-term contract and no cancellation fee. Care that goes up after a hospital stay and back down as your loved one recovers is normal — we expect it.
About a third of the families we work with are long-distance. You get visit notes after each shift, a direct line to the care manager, and a call from us if anything changes — a fall, a refused meal, a bad week.
Home visit
Send this and a care manager calls you back the same day — usually within an hour. No obligation, and no one will show up at the door unannounced.
